30th Anniversary weekend with Donny and Candy

Donny, Candy, Kary & Doug
Happy 30th Anniversary Candy and Donny! It was a wonderful weekend, filled with shared memories, laughs, kayaking, biking and celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary.

Bleubear surprised Donny and Candy!
We began the weekend with gumbo on the patio Friday night, fresh fruit and my homemade raisin toast for breakfast on Saturday, salad’s at the White Water center in Charlotte for lunch then we grilled steaks and chicken for our evening meal.

My sun dried tomato and mushroom quiche was such a hit last weekend I decided to keep it simple on Sunday for brunch and go with the quiche again, along with fresh strawberries and home fries. We dined on salad and sandwiches for lunch and we had planned on going out to a sushi restaurant for dinner but after a day in the sun the patio at home was calling to us.

Quiche Home Fries and Strawberries

On our way back home Candy, Donny, Doug and I stopped in at The Waldhorn, our favorite German Restaurant in Charlotte, had a cold beverage and ordered the German sampler plate, goat cheese appetizer, potato pancakes and dumplings to enjoy on our patio at home. Thanks Donny and Candy for a great meal, so many laughs and new memories!

The Kiss!

The 30th Anniversary Chocolate Diamond Ring from Donny to Candy!

This morning Candy and Donny loaded up the car and they headed out for the last leg of their vacation. They had about a three hour drive to the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC for a tour and romantic dinner and on their itinerary for Tuesday is a train ride through the Great Smokey Mountains. The North Carolina Mountains are such a spectacular part of the US, and I know they will thoroughly enjoy themselves.

We were sad to see them go and thank you for spending part of your vacation with us, we enjoyed every minute!

Candy and Donny, in the words of Bob Dylan “May you stay forever young”

Forever Young"

"May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young".

We love you guys! Safe Travels! Cheers, Doug and Karen
