Market day and Farm-To-Table Dinners

Yesterday was market day at Poplar Ridge Farms in NC and as a participant in the work share program I spent fours hours out at the farm working in the fields and at the produce stand.

I spent time in the fields pruning the garlic tops from the garlic, this allows all the nutrients to go to the bulb and also pruned the flowers on the cilantro plants.

It was in the 90’s yesterday and as I headed home with my bag of organic greens, a cool shower and fresh garden salad made with organic greens were on the agenda for the evening.

The dinner events are held from 6:15 pm - 9:30 pm, for up to 50 attendees in our farm pavilion and outdoor dining area. Each dinner will feature a wonderful dining
experience with seasonal vegetables from the farm! Vegan and vegetarian menus always available.



A Charlotte-area chef will prepare our meal and demonstrate technique and recipes using Poplar Ridge Farm produce from that week’s harvest. There is a wine tasting with each course.


Speakers at our events address various topics related to the environment and health.

Topics may include sustainable agriculture, conservation, nutrition, global and local food policy, farming, gardening, and more.

Chef Hollace Stephenson

This lovely lady and chef extraordinaire will kick off Poplar Ridge Farm's Farm-to-Table Dinner Series on June 8!

Chef Hollace is personally and professionally dedicated to healthy vegetarian, vegan, and raw food diets.
We are eagerly anticipating her transformation of our harvested produce into fine, four-course dining for the dinner on June 8.

Farm-to-Table Dinners
June 8, June 22 and June 25!

June 8 dinner featuring Chef Hollace Stephenson of TasteMakers of Charlotte. An expert gourmet chef of healthy vegetarian and vegan cuisine, chef Hollace will return to Poplar Ridge Farm to work her magic with our late spring produce.

June 8 speaker will also be Hollace Stephenson!

We have had such an influx of inquiries for tips on healthy cooking, vegetarian and vegan meals, and current information on selecting good products for your kitchen that we decided to ask Hollace and our owner to create a presentation.

June 22 dinner featuring Chef Paul Ketterhagen of Carpe Diem Restaurant. Carpe Diem Restaurant will bring its continual focus on local cuisine and fine dining to our farm for the second year in a row.
June 22 Speaker will be Greg Pillar, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Chemistry, and Chair of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Queens University of Charlotte.

June 25 dinner featuring Chef Jamie Lynch of Barrington's Restaurant. Chef Jamie delighted our guests last summer (see pictures on Facebook), and he's already toying with our tastebuds with his claims of brand new tricks up his sleeve!

June 25 speaker to be announced!
