"Big Little Lies" Liane Mariarty Book Club with a side of Pasta

“Big Little Lies" Liane Mariarty, “Have you read the book, book clubs” selection for May.

Rigatoni, Spinach and Sausage Pasta
Is there anyone who doesn't love pasta or sharing a secret?

Over the years our book club hostesses have adopted signature dishes or themes when they host. Rosemary usually prepares an Italian dish, and this month she searched the internet and came up with rigatoni, spinach and sausage cooked in chicken broth,  a light and delicious dish. Rosemary also prepared a fresh spinach salad with strawberries which was the perfect compliment for the pasta dish.

The recipe that I found calls for sliced rounds of sausage, Rosemary used ground sausage which I prefer. When I make this dish I use organic ground sausage, add a jar of sundried tomatoes along with the oil they are packed in and I toss in uncooked spinach, this is a perfect pasta dish any time of the year.

If you are looking for a vegetarian pasta dish simply omit the sausage, replace the chicken broth with vegetable broth and it’s as easy as that!

Here are several other pasta dishes that you might enjoy; Andouille Sausage and Pasta    Shrimp Pasta Salad , Grilled Salmon and Pasta.

You know I love a great story and  Liane Mariarty does not disappoint.

What secrets lie in wait held close and protected before they are exposed or maybe never exposed…
Do you have a secret that you hold close just so that you can survive the day? A secret that you have built lies around, one small little secret that you don’t think anyone would understand and if you did share it there is a possibility that you would be judged?

Liane Mariartythe author of “Big Little Lies"  writes brilliantly about the lies many people tell themselves in order to make it through the day. Liane’s tale is centered around a fictional primary school and the village in Pirriwee Australia and how the lives of those in the book crash against one another then ebb and flow like the ocean waves.

It’s a story about how secrets turn into a series of little lies and how they affect everyone they touch.

One line that really caught my attention was from the character Jane. “Jane remembers, she hasn’t told anyone. She’d swallowed it whole and pretended it meant nothing, and therefore it had come to mean everything.” (Page 220).

You know I don’t like to give too much away when I write about the books we read, so if you are looking for interesting characters, great writing, mystery and humor, then download a copy of or pick up a hard copy and prepare to be entertained.

June's book selection is  “Be My Eye" Dustin Stevens
